Hey friends, today is kind of a bummer because I have some unhappy news. Don’t worry its not too drastic but its a huge change in our plans for this year therefore has me a little anxious. As I mentioned in a post a bit ago about myself I don’t always adjust well to big life changes. Of course I have gotten better over the last 10 years but it can still be a struggle, especially depending on what the change is. But I’m sure that can be said for a lot of people. So here’s the news…… we have decided to post-pone buying a house until sometime next year.
I KNOW…. major let down, my hopes were so high. But things weren’t adding up how we would have liked in order to feel confident moving forward with the process. We also wanted to have more finances to work with, and based on where were at right now it would make more sense to wait…. continue to save and get our credit up even higher. If we tried to buy a house now we most likely would have to settle for something we really don’t like or is probably too small for our family. And as much as we want a house of our own we want to make sure its a place that fits us and has more of what we want. I don’t want to pick something just to pick something ya know? Plus in the overlapping time between moving out of our rental and hopefully closing would have left us needing to move into my mothers for a few weeks up to a few months and truthfully it would probably be too much of a squeeze for all of us to be in there. I think these second guessing feelings were gods way of telling us to hold off, we have been trying to be better about listening to him and his plan for us. I think he’s saying to wait for now, trust in him that he’s working on something better for us down the road.
So heres the new plan…… Sam’s grandparents own a house just 5 minutes from us now down the road, we have discussed renting from them in the past. We will be renting this home probably for at least a year while we save like crazy and get our ducks fully in a row. We want to feel as confidant as possible going into the home purchasing process and this new plan will gives us the best setup possible to do that. It will be hard seeing that its a much older home which usually doesn’t deter me, but this house has a few bumps that we will have to overcome and be diligent about. This will be a big challenge for me in the decorating department… not that decorating is the most important thing, but feeling somewhat at home and comfortable is. I’m still coming into my decorating design as well so it will be alot of trial and error. Here is what were working with:
- We cannot really make any changes to the house cosmetically…..NONE! Not even paint… the walls are wallpapered, paneled and a selection of colors not normally in my pallet. Carpets are light shaggy blue, and mixture of red, and orange depending on the room.. As for decorating I will be having to get super creative with whats going on over there. So that will be interesting…
- The kitchen is super tiny… and no dishwasher (except my brother in law might give us their portable one but who knows where I will put it. )
- Safety concerns include: Super busy road which is terrifying with the boys, but we have come up with putting hook and eyes on the doors up high and the big dog bell strips that you hang on the door. So if anyone opens it we hear it. Also, last time we were there Sam noticed a bunch of poision ivy lining the tree line to the woods. Sam is CRAZY allergic to it, and we of course don’t want to even find out how the boys might react so it looks like I will have the pleasure of pulling them out. I have never gotten poison ivy even after I walked through it so to the best of my knowledge I’m not allergic to it.
We move the weekend of March 25th, so not far off at all! Hopefully we will getting a key even earlier than that so I can start slowly taking boxes over there during the next few weeks.
As soon as I can get over there I will take some pictures and post them to show you all what I’m working with. Any ideas or thoughts when I post them would be awesome! I will be keeping y’all updated as much as I can! Also, check out LBH on facebook and instagram to stay up to date too!
