( I wish this is what our living room looked like!)
Morning all, today I wanted to share my excitement about some new couches that were getting…. I know to some this may not be very big news but to me it definitely is. Especially since it means were getting rid of the big slop of a monster that we have now.
OH MY, words cannot fully describe how much I loathe our current couch. When we first bought it only 4 years ago it was brand new, from one of those freight warehouse stores. Sam and I were moving in together & it was our big splurge purchase. However, back then decorating was the last thing on my mind. We have used it now through two babies, both of which liked to throw up…….a lot. So it not only has endured literally being thrown up multiple times a days for a few years but also pooped and peed on more than a handful of times…. I know gross, I’m sure your still wondering why the heck were still using it! As for the quality, I would not say it was made to last, the cushions are “dented in” & they seem to slide out from underneath you when you sit on them so I’m forever having to put the couch back together. Now I’m sure you can see why this is a big deal.
After doing some research, searching on pinterest, reading reviews & visiting some of my favorite blogs for inspiration I’ve decided on the Ektorp series from Ikea. I read multiple reviews on these & found they are actually a really good deal especially for the price-point. At $380 a pop you can get that comfortable & cozy farmhouse look. One of the best parts about these couches is that they are slipcovered, if any messes or spills happen I can just throw them in the washer or purchase a new cover for only $29 bucks instead of having to purchase a whole new couch. Beware though prices change for the different color of of slipcovers, for instance we are getting a light oatmeal color (Lafollett Beige) but the white covers jump up tp $149. One of my fave blogs, the LizMarieblog.com has these couches in a few of her living spaces & I can’t get over how amazing they look & you would never have guessed they were so inexpensive. In her review she says she has had them for 4 years & they are still going strong.
Pictures below are from some of my Fav blogs & just some inspiration!
