Hi! And Welcome to the Little Brown Haven! I am so glad your here. I’m Sara Brown, the author. I am a wife, mama and I’ll be honest….sometimes hot mess. Navigating through life while wearing numerous hats can be tricky and exhausting, but I’ll say, it is so worth it. I am a Michagander, born and raised with my husband Sam and our two little sons of anarchy. I have a license in cosmetology, and on the weekends in the spring and summer I’m busy out beautifying some wonderful ladies on their special day! Otherwise you can find me, coffee and toddlers in tow hitting up local thrift stores, garage sales and target! I absolutely love me some target, perhaps some of you moms can relate! I’m a diehard super budget friendly decorating fan…… and believe in making the most out on one income. This year we have some exciting new endeavors to take on….. our oldest Matthias is going to be starting preschool in the fall!! Its so CRAZY, I cannot believe it. Its such a bittersweet event because I’ve had him home with me for the last three years. I have been so blessed to be able have this special time with him while he is small. On the flip side…. boy he is a handful! He literally scales the walls in our home and can run paces around me and daddy combined, he has no fear. He needs to get out and place all that energy elsewhere. He has visited the room he will possibly be in and instantly felt at home. I have no doubt he will thrive there and I’m excited to watch him continue to grow. I will still have a (almost) two year old at home to keep me on my toes. My boys are only 16 months apart and although ultimately I believe their closeness in age will allow them to be amazing pals as they get older its no walk in the park right now. Secondly and most hopefully we plan to begin the process of purchasing our FIRST HOME!!! It feels like I have been waiting an eternity to finally buy our own place, put down some roots and truly make it a home. We have rented for the last 5 years and we are so over it. You can only do so much to your rental to make it yours, plus it seems an unworthy investment to buy paint and what not in a place you will only be for a year or two. I cannot contain my excitement about getting to decorate to my hearts content and that’s part of the journey I would like to share here with you. I hope to help inspire you to tap into your creative reservoir and start making some changes in your household towards the home you have always wanted. I also am looking forward to learning from you, my readers and from my fellow bloggers.
This year, 2017 I plan to go after some goals I’ve been putting off for quite a while, due to fear, self-doubt, feelings of unworthiness. Its time to get off my downer mobile and forge a new path. Getting organized, time management, serving my spouse and god to a new level, living intentionally, enjoying more of the small and precious moments with my boys and starting this blog are just a few things I would like to perhaps not master but advance in to a intermediate level. I’m off to a good start so far I believe, I’ve got the Little Brown Haven up and running and by the strength and grace of god I will make progress in those other areas as well.
Now over the next few months you will have to bear with me a bit while I continue to learn the process of blogging, photography and as we patiently await the arrival of the home meant for us. Don’t fret, posts about our home will come soon enough and for now I cant help myself but to take this time to write about some other topics near and dear to my heart such as beauty, a little fashion, being a mama and health. So I hope you can stick around follow along!
